Now that your account has been established and you have access to the server you have the opportunity do do great things. This would include messing
things up pretty bad. It’s your site, you can do with it what you will, but there may be a charge if you delete or change things that you shouldn’t.
Rule #1: If you aren’t sure, ask!
Our system contains many automated scripts and services that create directories and files within your account.
DO NOT DELETE or change any of the directories or files that are located on
the server that you did not create yourself. If you are ever in doubt about a file or directory, please, contact us to help you identify it.
Here is a list of the initial directories that you’ll find. Where is says domain this indicates your own domain name.
- domain-logs - This contains your access logs used
- domain-mail - This contains all POP mail accounts. This will also
contain any mailing lists that you create.
- domain-anonftp - This contains the directories for anonymous FTP
- domain-www - This is the folder where you put your HTML files
- www - This is a shortcut to the domain-www folder. You can treat these as the exact same folder. This one is just easier to type.
- domain-secure - This too is a shortcut to domain-www except that when
the server is requested to use secured pages, it uses this directory automatically.
If you find that the server appears to have gone down
In the unlikely event that your server is down, our technicians are notified by an
automated monitoring system. I’m sure your first inclination is to email us and this is fine. Send emergency email to emergency@ez2ba.com .
It should be noted that there are many reasons that you can’t access your web
site that have nothing to do with the server. With hundreds of miles between your computer and there server, there are a lot of opportunities for failure.
As a hosting company, we provide the connection for your site to be accessed by the internet. We do not design web sites, create music files, create
databases, program web pages. We welcome your requests for help, but please understand that our highest priority goes to making sure our servers are
working properly. We may assess a charge to repair that which is not our responsibility.
